Progress
The internet got too loud for developers.
By TJ June
I realized something was broken a few weeks ago when I was fighting a weird deployment bug for 6 hours. I finally figured it out, and I wanted to share the mistake so someone else wouldn't waste their day on it. But where do you post it? If I go to LinkedIn, I have to wrap it in toxic positivity ("I am thrilled to announce my journey in debugging..."). If I go to X, it gets lost in algorithm-bait and political noise. If I ask on Reddit, I risk getting downvoted into oblivion for a "stupid" mistake. We don't have a place to just be engineers anymore. Everything is attached to our real names, our portfolios, and our career clout. So I started building a pre-launch experiment at https://theincognito.pages.dev/. It’s a pure-text, completely anonymous forum. When you join, you don't get a profile—you get an auto-generated handle like NullFox or Dragon. You can only post under 4 strict tags: stuck:, decision:, failure:, or observation:. No links allowed Tuesday-Sunday. No product spam. Just a quiet, high-signal space to talk about the messy reality of writing code.
