Ask someone what they think your app does. Their answer can tell you a lot about how clearly you’re explaining it.

Someone recently asked me about Trayage: “So it summarises your downloads? Is that right?” Trayage helps you work through your Mac’s Downloads folder and decide what to keep, move, or delete. That question stuck with me. When you’re building something, you know all the context behind it. Someone seeing it for the first time has your description and maybe a screenshot to go on. I’m still figuring out how to get traction. One comment doesn’t explain everything, but it gives me something specific to look at: am I making the everyday use case clear enough? If you’re building solo, ask someone to explain your product back to you before you explain it again. You might learn more from that answer than from another “looks cool.” Have you had a question from someone that made you rethink how you describe your product?
