Planning to set my mom up with the HelloPorch prototype today.

I’ve covered up all the extra buttons that might distract or confuse her. What’s left: people she recognizes and two concrete actions. • Pick up / hang up • Turn video on / off I’ve also paired faces with names and used Chinese for the labels, since that’s her first language. The iPad app and spoken call announcements are in Mandarin too. I’m hoping the familiar landline interface makes it easier for her to get comfortable and build a new habit of staying in touch.
