I’m building **VerifiedNG** — a platform for finding and connecting with trusted service providers in Nigeria.

The idea is simple: You need a service → search for a provider → check their profile and details → send a hire request → communicate directly. But I don’t want it to just be another directory where anyone can create a profile and disappear. The main thing I’m trying to solve is **trust**. I want service providers to have proper profiles, customers to have a better way to discover them, and the platform itself to handle things like authentication, requests, permissions and user data properly. ### What I’ve built so far * Customer and provider registration/login * JWT authentication * Password hashing and password reset * Customer/provider profiles * Provider search and categories * Provider profile pages * Hire request system * Provider dashboard * Profile photos * Provider upgrade flow * MongoDB backend * REST APIs with Node.js + Express * Frontend with HTML, CSS and JavaScript * Automated backend tests with Jest/Supertest * Deployment with GitHub Pages + Render I’m also currently taking the project through the **Blacksmith Experience**, which has been forcing me to look at the project differently. Instead of just asking: > “Does this feature work?” I’m learning to ask: > “Can I prove it works, and can I prove that users can only access what they’re supposed to?” That has led me into things I honestly wasn't thinking deeply about before — authorization, ownership checks, API boundaries, automated tests, server-side identity, XSS, database constraints and making sure the frontend isn't making security decisions that belong to the backend. Right now, I’m working through the **hire request flow and trust boundary** of the application. There’s still a lot unfinished. Some of the frontend is old and needs to be cleaned up, some flows need to be rebuilt around the new backend, and there are plenty of UX improvements I want to make. But this is no longer just an idea or a tutorial project. I’m building it, breaking it, testing it, getting it reviewed, fixing it and learning along the way. The long-term goal is to grow VerifiedNG into a proper platform for discovering and connecting with service providers across Nigeria. Still early. Still learning.
